Work on the signature assignment...

I started working on the signature assignment today. To obtain new research/ideas on the topic and to formulate my own ideas/connections, I spent a few hours searching for and reviewing journal articles. I found some good articles....and I have some "different" ideas for the paper. I want to connect risk (riskiness of ERP projects), PMO office for management, knowledge management/experience of the organization, and a few more areas in my paper.

Week 8 - Assignment: Determine Standards for Project Governance

Instructions

Many companies rely on an enterprise architecture network as the focal point for business processes. Write a paper that a chief information officer (CIO) or chief technology officer (CTO) can use with the planning phases for development, implementation, and implementation of an ERP system. The CIO or CTO indicates that the business has strict standards in place for project governance and it is imperative at this stage of their preparation that the follow considerations are addressed:

    Support various factors in the planning stages, including but not limited to the importance of planning, key personal including internal and external stakeholders, budget, business processes, business alignment, software, applications, hardware, networks, licensing, and maintenance. In addition include other factors that are necessary during the planning stages, and important discussion points that should occur during the planning stage.
    Integrate why testing and assessment are necessary components before the implementation stage.
    Categorize the implementation stage. Include a summary of the steps necessary in the implementation stage including, but not limited to migrations for existing components, software, applications, hardware, network, security factors, testing, timelines, downtime, vendor involvement and best practices.
    Break down five (5) critical factors that are important for ongoing analysis of the usage of an enterprise network architecture and recommended improvements.

Support your paper with at least seven (7) resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included. Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University's Academic Integrity Policy.

Length: 12-15 pages (not including title and reference pages).

Week 7 assignment

The assignment:

An effective network supports different business processes. For this assignment, the sales department within a company has employees that work remotely from various office locations. The corporate office located in different physical location needs the sales people to track their sales data. The Vice President (VP) of Sales has tasked you with finding a solution because their territories have expanded and having the sales people come into the office each day is not a viable solution any longer. The VP of Sales believes it would make sense to implement a cloud solution but the President of the company has valid concerns about security, employee churn, and company data being accessed remotely.

Create a PowerPoint presentation to gain approval from members of the company with limited technical knowledge, inlcuding the President, VP of Sales, and Executive Management Team. Include the following in your presentation:

    Analyze the process whereby virtual clouds (tangible machines) are used to link to virtual private networks (VPNs) that interacts with virtual enterprise architectures or enterprise resource planning systems architectures. Evaluate the migration and real-time transmissions processes of the networks.
    Explain how remote sales people can log sales data from various locations that can be viewed by the corporate office.
    Compare and contrast (2) case studies of businesses that have migrated part of their applications to cloud based services.
    Weigh three (3) strengths of moving to a cloud based application.
    Evaluate three (3) weaknesses with a business moving to a cloud based application.
    Analyze two (2) concerns that a business may have with have virtual cloud enterprises connected to their existing network.
    Incorporate security concerns throughout the presentation, including proper access to data, how data may be used, and implementing security policies.

Provide specific examples to detail your presentation. Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as “speaker notes” for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists. Support your presentation with at least five (5) scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included. Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style where appropriate.

Length: 12-15 slides (with a separate reference slide).
Notes Length: 100-150 words for each slide.

Web-based strategies may offer a more flexible means to connect a business with authorized users but it must be well thought out in terms of access, security, and tying it into the process flow for the business. Web-based strategies open new possibilities; however, with new possibilities, new challenges are presented. For this assignment, write a paper that examines the strengths and weaknesses of a Web-based strategy. Include the following in your paper:

    Identify two (2) business problems that a Web-based strategy may help solve.
    Assess two (2) strategies for transforming a virtual private network into a Web-based strategy.
    Evaluate two (2) constraints associated with a Web-based strategy.
    Investigate at least two (2) security concerns and potential solutions to the security concerns with a business migrating to a Web-based strategy.
    Conclude with two (2) reasons why a business would either make the decision to move or not move towards a Web-based strategy.

Week 6 assignment

I still have some work to do on the week 6 assignment - I am late this week. I hope to submit soon

Getting a doctorate is intellectually rewarding. Unfortunately, it doesn't tend to be financially rewarding, at least not in the short term. Most PhD students live on their earnings from teaching and research assistantships or other low-paying employment. So, your starving student days may not be behind you.

Week 5 assignment

The week 5 assignment includes information on contracting and procurement - some information on the (procurement) process to purchase networking products and services, the selection of contractors/vendors and the effect on performance. I was reminded of my "early career days," including my past membership in the National Contract Management Association (NCMA). I liked the NCMA procurement magazine!

Finding cases was a challenge. I basically searched and searched until I found something.

Week 4 assignment

I finally finished the week 4 assignment! I ended up relying on & using a lot of my background for the assignment (rather than obtaining information from interviews). And, I learned quite a bit too - such as difference between workflow mngt systems and case management systems.
