Week 4 assignment

I finally finished the week 4 assignment! I ended up relying on & using a lot of my background for the assignment (rather than obtaining information from interviews). And, I learned quite a bit too - such as difference between workflow mngt systems and case management systems.

Week 3 assignment

I completed and submitted the assignment by the deadline. For the assignment, I selected two companies that used/considered ERP to improve their supply chain as well as global operations. Both companies prefer to use one ERP vendor. From my readings, the companies seemed: (1) thorough (they planned well - considered various options, understood issues, and so on), (2) willing to invest / spend a lot to get quality work, and (3) willing to take on some risks. One company went ahead with a SAP release (over a long Labor Day weekend), even though a consultant identified issues that could be a problem - maybe timing was important. There were serious issues.

Working on week 3 assignment

This week's assignment - the week 3 assignment - is a presentation on ERP. I am making good progress. I thought about what business area/processes I wanted to focus on, developed a preliminary presentation outline, and started putting the presentation together. Of course, last week's paper gave me a headstart. The paper included a lot of details about ERP.

(It is interesting that there is a lot of intersection in the assignments so far. The focus for week 2's assignment was planning - there was a lot of planning details/issues in the week 1 assignment. The focus for the week 3 assignment is ERP projects - the week 2 assignment included a lot of information on ERP projects.)

I will include different projects/examples in the week 3 assignment. I will learn more that way.
